Halloween Bread Buns

Here are two Halloween themed bread buns which I have baked over the last week.

Firstly is a spooky Halloween themed breakfast which I had this morning. I baked some bread buns, and stuffed them with jam and decorated into skull bread buns. I dusted rice flour over the bread buns before baking, to ensure they stayed white instead of browning. Dust off the excess flour with a pastry brush after the bread buns are baked.

I added some fruits as sides, green apple slices decorated into Frankenstein and monster grapes. I added the eyes on the grapes using cheese and nori.

Next is a ring of Halloween bread buns I baked last weekend. I first saw this style of bread buns shared by several Japanese bloggers on Instagram, and bread art seems very popular recently.

I baked some pumpkin bread buns, as well as black cat bread buns, thought these seemed quite suitable for Halloween. The dough for the black cats was colored naturally with half a teaspoon of bamboo charcoal powder.

I will make a tutorial for this style of bread buns the next time I bake a similar one, will share it then. I piped on the details with white and semi-sweet chocolate.
