Gudetama bento

I am such a big fan of Gudetama nowadays. This “lazy egg” as how my kids refer to it, is too adorable and describes me perfectly on lazy days.

This first dish below is Gudetama on top of a bowl of Taiwanese braised pork rice (Lu Rou Fan 滷肉飯). Gudetama is made of mashed potato and hard boiled egg, with nori facial details.

The braised pork rice doesn’t look too pretty but is so yummy. I followed this recipe loosely and used minced pork instead.

This other food art below was made for its cuteness factor. This is because Gudetama was made from a shiratama dumpling, and certainly doesn’t go with the fried noodles. You can imagine Gudetama going “please don’t eat me!”

I made this piece of food art last week to cheer myself up on a particularly difficult day, I just needed to see something cute that morning to tell me that everything would be alright. I have made some decisions regarding my job, which I believe would be better for me in the long run, but for a few days last week I had to tell myself that it was the right choice. The past week was rather draining but I will share more about this at a later stage.

Ok, that’s enough rambling. Need to go tuck the kids into bed, have a lovely week ahead everyone!
