Totoro bread bowl bento

Using the same recipe as the hot dogs in the previous post, I made some Totoro bread bowls. I added a teaspoon of dark cocoa powder into the dough, alternatively you may use some charcoal powder if you have any on hand.

I made four bread bowls out of the batch of dough, and had actually cut out the dough to create Totoro’s ears. However the ears had shrunk back into the dough after baking, hence I cut out Totoro’s ears separately from some of the bread.

The bread bowl is created by carving a hole in the bread and scooping out the centre. I used clam chowder for this so it creates the effect of Totoro’s white tummy. His facial details are added on with nori and cheese, and a mint leaf on his head.
