Elmo Bento

I used two different types of fish roe today to create Elmo bentos, it is probably the first time I used fish roe as the main ingredient in my bento. These were consumed at home as the fish roe are best eaten straight after preparation.

Hubby loves ikura (salmon roe), so I made an Elmo ikura-don, which is salmon roe over rice. I layered some egg omelette strips over rice and scooped ikura over the top to create Elmo’s face. His nose is made from steamed carrot and his eyes from hard boiled egg and nori.

I made Elmo ebiko sushi (prawn roe) for myself. Hubby’s opinion was that the Elmo sushi had a frightened expression as it was about to be eaten, LOL.

The same ingredients were used to create his facial features.
