This is another horse bento inspired by the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The horse in this bento is made of onigiri, the rice is coloured brown with teriyaki sauce. The horse’s mane is made using shredded omelette (tamago), and facial details using nori. The background is a thin layer of rice mixed with ebikko (prawn roe) to colour it orange.
I added in a kumquat (small mandarin orange) in the side dishes of the bento as well, the kids have recently started loving mandarin oranges.
