With fall and Halloween approaching, there are so many pumpkin recipes circulating around. I came across this recipe for pumpkin steamed buns on Nasi Lemak Lover and tried it out.
It is pretty much like the steamed buns (mantou) I have been making but using pumpkin puree instead. It gives a pale yellow colour to the buns, and I filled them with lotus paste too. The pumpkin stalks are made with strips of pumpkin skin and the indentations on the bun are made by pressing a butter knife to the buns before steaming them.
