15 minute bento – nori challenge

I have generally felt that working with nori takes a longer time due to the attention required to small details. Today is 15 minute Friday on Bentos On the Bayou and I decided to give myself a challenge to finish today’s lunch with nori details in under 15 minutes.

Bao (pao) lunch bento, can use char siew bao etc. Cute lunch for kids. (Seal bento)

Quick lunch bento made of lotus paste buns (bao) decorated as seals

Today is a public holiday, so I bought mini lotus paste buns (lian yong bao) from the market this morning. I wanted to buy the mini char siew bao (barbecued pork buns) but they were not ready yet, such a pity! The buns (bao) are decorated to look like seals.

Took some photos of the bento making process with a timer (timer counts up). Took 7 minutes to punch out the nori facial details and affix them. The rest of the bento was a breeze to fix, they had fruits (kiwi, strawberries and grapes) and a slice of konnyaku mango jelly which I made last night. Took 13 minutes 42 seconds in all to fix Z2’s bento.

Leave a Note! I'll love to hear from you.
