March 2 is Dr Seuss’s birthday, but I have a few ideas of Seuss themed lunches and snacks to make, so I thought I would share some snack ideas first.
One of Z1’s favourite Dr Seuss books is The Cat in the Hat. The photo below is a snack bento based on this book, which Z1 and baby Z3 shared (Z3 spat out the strawberries though), featuring two rows of layered bananas and strawberries.
Next we have Nutella sandwiches cut out with a small apple cookie cutter, with cheese letters, based on – you guessed it – Dr Seuss’ ABC. The apple slices are from Ten Apples Up On Top.
How about some Green Eggs and Ham? I melted some white chocolate buttons on top of pretzels and pressed in a green M&M to make green eggs. No ham as we are out of deli meat in the fridge… I know this is not the “right” way to melt chocolate, neither did I use baking chocolate – promise I will work on this! This snack also features some Brown Bar Ba Loots Truffula Fruits (ie grapes) from The Lorax.
I’ve got a Seuss lunch idea planned for tomorrow, and that will be in my next post. 🙂
